The North Circular Katherine says World Land Trust work in India

Rural India, forests of milky green air magic of hot pinks, sari adorned woman beautiful as jewels sparkle with diamond eyed children while overly large horned cattle cross slowly, the truck's playing chicken with us as we overtake five person family on the motorbike overtaking the colourful lorry laden with unstrapped concrete tubes on a dirt road.
Lily and i took a glimpse at some of India's issues underneath, visiting projects of the charity World Land Trust, their amazing work in India includes creating elephant and tiger corridors, that allow the animals to migrate naturally and reduce animal-human conflicts.
Following the natural migratory patters of these animals paths of land are bought to protect these areas linking national parks before the population encroach cutting off these paths, essential to maintain genetic diversity, natural breeding and feeding habits for these majestic animals.
Seeing the astounding beauty of the wild elephant treading his path in life, one sees why the elephant headed god, named Ganesha is called the remover of obstacles, elephant bulldozes though the hard terrain crushing and trampling all in his path.
Small villages, harassed by years living in fear of being trampled at night are successfully relocated to safe locations, given houses and cash crops to assist their moves, villagers, now proudly relocated to their wild elephant free homes make us masala tea and smile though the language barrier. One man smiling tells us how he can now sleep with his wife at night instead of having to stay out on watch, another how his daughters now have access to education.
Safe passage for the elephants ensures the survival of other endangered animals, up the ghat pass to the foothills of the Himalayas in Corbett national park where cheeky monkeys broke into my room to steal my bananas we hunted tigers with our cameras atop rescued street elephants rehabilitated into the jungle life,India, home to over 60%of the worlds tigers now has only an estimate of 1500 left.
India is still blessed with wildlife so abundant,we saw not just wild elephants, but spotted deer, clangurs monkeys, samba, wild boar while the crested serpent eagles soared by n kingfishers streaked past neon blue,to name a few..to read more about their work follow this link www.worldlandtrust.org

The North Circular Katherine says WINNER OF THE RSPCA GOOD BUSINESS AWARDS 2010- VOGUE.COM UK
A Win For Lily
The accessories brand founded by Cole, among others, won the Large Company prize for its stylish designs and its animal-friendly methods of production. Using wool from only flocks of rescued sheep, the North Circular has done well to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare.
RSPCA director of communications David Bowles said: "All these companies were recognised for leading the way in animal welfare in the high street and on the catwalk, and deserve our recognition as they set the standard for others to work towards."
Held at London's One Marylebone, other winners of the night included high street favourites New Look and Marks & Spencer, as well as the capital's East End fashion emporium, Junky Styling. The judging panel was a combination of fashion experts that included Lisa Armstrong, fashion editor of The Times, and Red or Dead founder Wayne Hemingway.http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/daily/101007-lily-coles-rspca-award-win.aspx
